How To Cook A Turkey Sequencing/Writing Activity

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and what better way to squeeze in a writing and sequencing activity than with a Thanksgiving activity! As part of an assignment I was required to help a student out with her sequencing skills. I wanted to include it into a writing piece and of course include Thanksgiving in to the whole mix.

So I created a "How To Cook A Turkey" activity booklet in which the students must list step by step (First, Next, Then, Last) to cooking a turkey. These pages can then be combined to create a writing piece on Thanksgiving.

I will be presenting this activity today, so I hope the students find it find it fun and interesting!

Anecdotal Notes

It is important to keep track of our students learning, and keep it charted for future purposes and needs. I have came across many anecdotal notes templates but never seem to come across one that I was able to record a students individual progress. After doing a lot of research and googling I came across plenty of templates but it seemed that they were are for reading. Which is not what I was looking for at the moment. I wanted one in which I could jot down individual student observations in more subjects that just reading. So I created this template in which I could do just that.

In this template you can write down the activity being observed, goals for that activity or lesson, any comments and observations during that activity or lesson, and new goals set for our students. I hope this can be helpful to you as it was for me.

Blogging Newbie

I wanted to introduce myself, as I am new to the blogging community. I have been wanting to start my own blog for about a year now, but just never seemed to find the time to get it up and starting. But finally here I am!!!!

I am and junior in the Bachelors of Science in Education Program in Florida. I will be starting my Senior Student Internship in January, which I am super excited and nervous for. After being in the education program for almost 2 years I have accumulated plenty of up to date resources, activities, templates, lesson plans, etc. that I would love to share with everybody. So this is why I am here so share and learn!

The very popluar phrase that I have learned from soon to be teacher colleagues is:

Beg, Borrow, and Steal!!

By this I am referring to the numerous resources and freebies that we can find in the teaching community!!
